trend report - the wide leg

Sick of the skinny? For fashionistas with any hint of hip, skinny jeans are perhaps the most unflattering trend to emerge in recent years, creating the unenviable silhouette of an ice-cream cone on even some normal-sized girls. Style relief is on the way with the arrival of a figure-flattering alternative... Please give a warm welcome to the wide-leg pant. Balance the proportion of a wide-leg pant or jean with chunky wedges or platform heels and top with a floaty blouse to play up your girly side. This trend can follow you from the office into cocktail hour with a pinch of sophistication and the look of money - no matter how much (or how little) you coughed up at the counter.

Can petite girls wear wide-leg pants, or will we look even shorter than we already are?

I love wide leg pants too. At first I didn't think they would look good on me as I'm short, but I've found some really cute pairs.

Petite girls can wear "wide legs" :)

Awesome post! I really feel like wide leg pants are something everyoneeee can wear as long as they dress right around them.

I know, personally I adore this style and what is great is that I bought a great pair on sale at Anne Taylor Loft a month ago before everybody else discovered them. They're slightly dramatic and I'm petite but somehow they work. For a pic look here, http://photos1.blogger.com/photoInclude/blogger/1233/926/1600/suspenders.jpg (that isn't me, just the pants I bought)

I was so over the skinny jean trend before it even started. Yay for the wide leg!

PS - Really love your blog. Not only does it give me great leads for copy cat styles at lower prices, but it also inspires me to build new outfits out of my own wardrobe. Thanks and keep up the good work.

I'm going to love this trend! I noticed that many of the pants seem to fit too well in the thigh area. How can short, pear-shaped ladies wear this trend without the eye focusing directly in this trouble area? Also avoiding the gap in the back of the pants?
Great blog!

I love wide leg jeans. I bought a pair of "trouser" jeans at GAP and I REALLY love them. I'm always getting complimented.

I'm glad for the wide leg trend, though it was kind of inevitable. Skinny jeans just do not look good on anyone but the thinnest of the thin - not to mention a lot of girls are pear-shaped, or curvy.

ps - just to add the love - I absolutely adore this site and have been following it for over a year now.

Keep up the good work - it's very much appreciated.

It is important to wear such clothes which suit you. Not wear clothes to saw someone wearing that kind of clothes. So, wear such with best suits you & enhanced your personality.

All about the wide leg. I have a lot going on within the waist, thigh hip area and I hated trying on skinny jeans: i looked like a stuffed sausage, really and truly :)

They say this every season, but I only see celebrities daring enough to wear them.
